Nugget is a small item or piece, especially of something abstract such as knowledge or
information, regarded as very precious. In everyday life
of an architect, it is a common thing to have some piece of quotes or nuggets
that guide you through the day work and are so special to you. They might be those ones from starchitects, other professional or better still the one you know yourself. But
today, I will share some of my nugget of architecture that guides most of my design decision.
Here are some of them;
To create an
architectural piece that can stand the test of time, obey nature.
To create a
functional and aesthetic buildings that meet the needs of the users, put
climate first.
To give a
building an identity, do not forget a unique facade in its design.
There are 3 C's of Architecture that speaks volume, Climate, Culture and Cost, pay attention to these and you will surely make your clients smile.
Have a theme for every design, by doing so, you would have created masterpieces with distinct character.
To be a relevant
architect, put passion before science.
When you
think about where your building ego lies, remember, it resides mostly in the
mind of the users.
Architects
create music that people can dance to, an unseen tune embedded in usable
buildings that is in sync with the occupants’ inner selves.
A better
design is not the one with no problem at all but one that has got over all its
problems that the only problem remaining is the one which is technically not a
problem.
As an
architect, never walk through time without leaving the evidence of your
passage.
I have just
shared some of my personal nuggets with you; hope you will find one or two
useful.
Feel free to
add up to them under comment.
Thanks.
