a  Are you an Architecture Student? Here are 5 essential things you need to be doing often for effectiveness in your studies.

1(1)    Learn Architectural Terms.
Do not just use normal words for building elements, using them makes you a common man, learn to use professional terms in communicating your ideas or explaining your drawings. Though, when dealing with laymen, using  professional terms makes you more difficult to comprehend but
the best is to stick to the use of the professional terms then explain further for them to understand, doing so will make an expert in the use of those terms. E.g. use columns instead of pillar

(2)    Draw more than talking

Using drawings to explain yourself makes you a detailed person, like one of my tutor will say “Architects are not journalists, draw more but talk less.” In drawings, ideas are easily communicated and like Le Corbusier said “I prefer drawing to talking, drawing is faster and leaves no room for lies.” You explain more with drawings with no room for lies. Doing this often will make people respect you as an architecture student. When drawing, use your hand more often.

(3)    Eat nutritious and delicious food.

Nothing keeps you healthy and balance than eating nutritious and delicious food. To complement loss of energy and vitality during stressful drawing hours, stick to a time-table of nourishing and delicious menu

(4)    Have more evening naps when staying awake in the night is essential.

If you really want to stay awake to in order to finish up your drawings or touch one or two things, having an evening snap is essential than taking coffee in the night.

(5)    Read more architectural books and other books relevant to architecture

Just simple as it is, to know more, you need to read more, architecture is very vast and versatile, it cut across other discipline, to be an effective architecture student, and you need to develop the habit of reading and reading always. Also, do not just read architectural books alone; read other books from different fields relevant to architecture. In doing this, you might need to take some courses outside architecture of buy books yourself.
