SUSTAINABLE BUILDING: SHAPE SHIFTING ZERO-ENERGY HOUSE THAT TRANSFROMS IN TUNE WITH THE WEATHER

Sustainable architecture is no doubt an applicable architectural solution to the world right now. It is a design approach that is effective in creating spaces that are not just meant to be inhabited but also help the users to enjoy their spaces. There are lots of new building designs based on sustainable architecture principles but the shape shifting, zero-energy house in above picture which transforms itself in tune with the weather is one in a million kind of sustainable building.

The building on hot day allows natural cooling because instead of cranking up the air conditioning, it transforms itself, its skin and shell is made to move out to wrap around the entire house thus shading everything so that the building can be cooled.

The building has a sensor that can sense coldness or hotness. During cold days, it will close its layers (Screen and Shell) to keep the inside heat from being lost into the surrounding and when you want more light in the building, you have two options; you can open up the screen or the shell. There are also solar panels that are used to power the building layers.
